Sony Pictures has shared a trailer for the action-adventure movie Uncharted, featuring Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg.  Uncharted is based on the Naughty Dog video game series of the same name. The games follow Nathan as he travels across the world in search of treasure and historical artifacts.

The preview shows fortune hunter Nathan Drake (Holland) team up with Victor “Sully” Sullivan to find “the greatest treasure that’s never been found.” The pair go up against a villain played by Antonio Banderas. The film adaptation is written by Rafe Judkins, Art Marcum and Matt Holloway, and is directed by Ruben Fleischer. Sophia Ali and Tati Gabrielle co-star.

Uncharted opens in theaters Feb. 18, 2022.  You can check out the preview – here.

Bridgerton will kick off its second season on March 25.  Netflix tweeted:   “Dear readers, I know my absence has only made your hearts grow fonder; however, you will not have to wait much longer. Bridgerton Season 2 debuts March 25, 2022, only on Netflix The news broke exactly a year after the first season premiered on the streaming service.”

Season 2 will follow wealthy Anthony Bridgerton’s (Jonathan Bailey) search for a wife. It will co-star Phoebe Dynevor, Nicola Coughlan, Golda Rosheuvel, Julie Andrews, Charithra Chandran, Shelley Conn, Calam Lynch and Rupert Young.

Based on the Julia Quinn book series of the same name, the Shonda Rhimes-produced costume drama has already been renewed for Seasons 3 and 4.

LL Cool J was forced to pull out of his appearance on Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve With Ryan Seacrest 2022 on ABC after testing positive for Covid-19.    LL Cool J said in a statement:  “I know it’s disappointing to the millions of fans but my test came back positive for COVID, which means I’ll no longer be able to perform as scheduled at New Year’s Rockin’ Eve.  We were ready and I was really looking forward to ringing in 2022 in my hometown in a special way, but for now I wish everyone a healthy and happy New Year. The best is yet to come!”

LL was scheduled to perform in New York’s Times Square before midnight.  In addition, Chlöe, who was also set to appear on the broadcast, has pulled out of the show.  Despite the performance cancellations, the ABC special, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary, will still broadcast from New York, Los Angeles, New Orleans and Puerto Rico.

Billy Porter will host and perform in New Orleans; while Daddy Yankee host the Spanish-language countdown and perform in Puerto Rico. Ciara is set to host the Los Angeles segment, which includes performances by AJR and Daisy the Great, Avril Lavigne and Travis Barker, Big Boi and Sleepy Brown, Don Omar, French Montana, Macklemore with Ryan Lewis and Windset, Mae Muller, Maneskin, Masked Wolf, OneRepublic, Polo G and Walker Hayes.  And in Times Square, NYC, Journey and Karol G are set to take the stage.

Eminem’s studio album “The Slim Shady LP” has now surpassed 1 billion streams on the music giant Spotify. The project was dropped over 2 decades back in 1999, and with this achievement Eminem now becomes the first act to have 11 studio albums with over 1 Billion Streams on Spotify.

Those 11 projects include albums “The Marshall Mathers LP”, “The Eminem Show”. “Recovery”, “Kamikaze”, the most recent “Music To Be Murdered By” and more. Recently, in the list of top-selling albums of 2021, Eminem’s 2005’s album “Curtain Call: The Hits” was among the top 50, even after 16 years of its release.

HBO Max released ‘first looks’ at several of their returning series in a 2022 promotional video, notably including the long-awaited return of Westworld.  The Westworld Season 4 footage includes glimpses of Ed Harris’ Man in Black, Thandiwe Newton’s Maeve and Aaron Paul’s Caleb Nichols. The previous season of the acclaimed sci-fi series got underway at the start of the pandemic in March 2020.

The promotional video (which can be viewed here) also includes new footage from the new seasons of His Dark Materials, The Nevers, The Flight Attendant and Raised by Wolves, as well as from the debut seasons of Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin, the Julia Child biopic Julia,  The Time Traveler’s Wife and the animated series Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai.  Absent from the lineup was the eagerly anticipated zombie drama The Last of Us, which has been expected to debut sometime in 2022.

As of press time, no premiere dates were announced for any of the shows.

The new trailer for ‘The Batman’ debuted Monday, and film stars Robert Pattinson, 35, and Zoë Kravitz, 33, appear to face off – and join forces — in their roles as Bruce Wayne/Batman and Selina Kyle/Catwoman, respectively.

Kravitz’s Catwoman tells Pattinson’s Batman in the trailer: “If we don’t stand up, no one will. ‘ The Bat and the Cat.’ That’s got a nice ring.”  The film also stars Paul Dano, Peter Sarsgaard, Jeffrey Wright and Colin Farrell.

Diddy has reportedly made the decision to cancel his annual New Year’s Eve bash in response to the surge of positive COVID-19 cases due to the Omicron variant. Diddy was planning to throw his annual NYE party in Miami on Friday night (December 31) with 500 of his closest friends. However, earlier this month, he decided to cancel the whole thing due to rising coronavirus cases in Florida and across the nation.

Diddy last hosted his NYE bash in 2019 before the pandemic hit, and was forced to cancel his party in 2020.  In 2019, Diddy’s NYE party saw celebrities like Fat Joe, Meek Mill, DaBaby, DJ Khaled and Winnie Harlow pack into Story Nightclub in Miami.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the U.S. daily record for COVID-19 cases was broken on Tuesday (December 28). Additionally, the seven-day average of U.S. cases topped 267,000 on Tuesday.

Following a 25-year marriage that ended in a messy divorce, Dr. Dre posed in front of balloons that read “Divorced AF” earlier this month amid news that he’d only have to pay his ex-wife, Nicole Young, a lump sum of $2 million, plus an additional $500,000 covering attorney fees.  But according to several reports, further details surrounding the pair’s split have surfaced in which Dre has agreed to pay Young $100 million—$50 million now and the remainder next year. The prenup prevented Young taking half and she will have to pay her own legal fees.

In addition to the $100 million settlement, Nicole will keep four out of the 10 vehicles they owned as a couple, as well as jewelry, cash, and bank accounts that she maintained during the course of their marriage, and personal belongings kept in the storage lockers they shared in their various homes.  The 56-year-old Dre will keep their seven properties including a home in Malibu, two in Calabasas, a $100 million estate in Brentwood, and three others in the Los Angeles area. Dre will also retain his masters, trademarks, Apple stocks including Beats By Dre proceeds, and interests in various trusts and partnerships.

Canadian filmmaker Jean-Marc Vallée, who directed Dallas Buyers Club and Wild, as well as the HBO series Big Little Lies and Sharp Objects, has died at the age of 58.  Vallée died suddenly over the weekend in his cabin near Quebec City, from what appears to have been a heart attack.  In a statement announcing his passing, Vallée’s longtime producer partner Nathan Ross wrote: “Jean-Marc stood for creativity, authenticity and trying things differently. He was a true artist and a generous, loving guy. Everyone who worked with him couldn’t help but see the talent and vision he possessed. He was a friend, creative partner and an older brother to me. The maestro will sorely be missed but it comforts knowing his beautiful style and impactful work he shared with the world will live on.”

Vallée directed Dallas Buyers Club, which earned six Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Film Editing (which Vallée received under his alias John Mac McMurphy).  Matthew McConaughey won the Oscar for Best Actor, and Jared Leto for Best Supporting Actor for their roles in the film.

Vallée next directed Wild, an adaptation of Cheryl Strayed’s memoir Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail, starring Reese Witherspoon and Laura Dern, who were both later recognized with Oscar nominations.  Vallée reunited with Witherspoon in 2017 for the HBO series Big Little Lies, a murder mystery based on Liane Moriarty’s novel of the same name. Vallée served as director and executive producer of the series.

Vallée is survived by his sons, Alex and Émile, and siblings Marie-Josée Vallée, Stéphane Tousignant and Gérald Vallée.

Hugh Jackman shared that he has tested positive for Covid-19. The two-time Tony Award winner, who will star in the upcoming revival of “The Music Man” on Broadway (set to open in February) announced his diagnosis Tuesday via a video on his verified social media accounts.

The caption to the video read: “Just wanted you to hear it from me. I tested positive for covid. Mild symptoms and as soon as I’m cleared … looking forward to getting back to The Winter Garden!   Jackman said during the video: “My symptoms are like a cold. I have a scratchy throat and a bit of a runny nose, but I’m fine.”

Jackman recently paid tribute to understudies on Broadway after Kathy Voytko, Sutton Foster’s understudy as Marian Paroo in “The Music Man,” filled in for Foster on short notice after Foster tested positive. In a video captured by a member of the show’s audience and posted on social media, Jackman asked the understudies to join him on stage and called them “the bedrock of Broadway.”

Jackman remained upbeat while sharing his Covid-19 diagnosis, and urged others to “stay safe, be healthy, be kind” while promising to return to the stage as soon as he is feeling well.
