Eminem reveals release date and artwork for Greatest Hits album, “Curtain Call 2”

Eminem shared the cover art and officially announced his second greatest hits collection, Curtain Call 2, will be released later this summer. The Detroit rapper’s first hits collection, Curtain Call: The Hits, was released in 2005.

Eminem has released five full-length solo studio albums including Recovery (2010), The Marshall Mathers LP 2 (2013), Revival (2017), Kamikaze (2018), and Music to Be Murdered By (2020).

In addition to being released on streaming platforms, Eminem is dropping a limited edition box set and a limited quantity of autographed vinyl for the project. Both will be available on Eminem.com. There will also be one previously unreleased song being included in the collection.

The news comes following the release of Eminem’s latest track, “From the D 2 the LBC,” a collaboration with Snoop Dogg that was released in June. Eminem also recently worked with CeeLo Green on “The King and I,” for Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis biopic.

Curtain Call 2 is set to drop on August 5.

Yo Gotti shares the video for the track “Steppas” featuring Moneybagg Yo, 42 Dugg, EST Gee, Mozzy & Blac Youngsta

Yo Gotti is planning the release of the Collective Music Group (CMG) compilation album, scheduled to drop on July 15th.

The rapper shared a track from the project, the star-studded song called “Steppas”. The song features assistance from Moneybagg Yo, 42 Dugg, EST Gee, Mozzy and Blac Youngsta, and is accompanied by a milliatry-inspired music video featuring cameos from CMG’s latest signee GloRilla, along with Blocboy JB, Lil Migo, Lehla Samia and more.

Vernon Winfrey, former Nashville councilman and father to Oprah Winfrey, dies at age 88

Vernon Winfrey, father of Oprah Winfrey and a former member of the Nashville Metro Council, died late Friday at the age of 88, Oprah confirmed. Winfrey wrote on Instagram: “Yesterday with family surrounding his bedside, I had the sacred honor of witnessing the man responsible for my life, take his last breath. We could feel Peace enter the room at his passing.” 

The post was accompanied by a video of gospel singer Wintley Phipps serenading Vernon Winfrey at a “Vernon Winfrey Appreciation Celebration” Oprah organized in his Nashville back yard on July 4.  Oprah wrote: “Less than a week ago we honored my father in his own backyard. My friend and gospel singer Wintley Phipps saluted him with song. He FELT the love and reveled in it until he could no longer speak.”  A tribute post on Oprah Daily, Winfrey’s website, said the celebration had been a surprise for the older Winfrey, who was initially led to believe he was attending a Fourth of July barbecue.

Winfrey’s mother, Vernita Lee, died at the age of 83 in 2018.  Vernon Winfrey owned and operated Nashville’s Winfrey Barber & Beauty Shop for more than 50 years. Nashville Mayor John Cooper wrote on Twitter “I offer my deepest condolences to the family of Vernon Winfrey. Vernon served on Metro Council for 16 years and dedicated his life to entrepreneurship, barbering, and mentoring young men in the community. An Army veteran and deacon, he leaves behind a legacy of service.”

Netflix deal with ‘Stranger Things’ creators the Duffer Brothers to include spinoff series and stage play

Stranger Things creators Matt and Ross Duffer — known as the Duffer Brothers — are developing a new stage play based off their hit Netflix series. The play is one of several projects the Duffers confirmed they’re working on with their new company, Upside Down Pictures, which is part of their new deal with Netflix.  There are several projects in the works, including a Stranger Things spin-off series “based on an original idea by the Duffer Brothers” (no other details were given).

The only details released about the play were that it would be “set within the world and mythology of Stranger Things,” and that it will be co-produced and directed by film and theatrical director Stephen Daldry.

Stranger Things’ fourth season aired in two parts on Netflix, with the second half of the season dropping on July 1. At the time the fourth season was officially announced, the Duffer Brothers also confirmed that Season Five would be the show’s last.

DJ Khaled announces new studio album ‘God Did’

DJ Khaled has revealed the title of his 13th full-length in studio album, God Did, set to debut soon.  Khaled shared the news, writing on Instagram: GOD DID”☝🏽 THE OFFICIAL ALBUM TITLE FOR MY 13TH STUDIO ALBUM. I made this album for all the believers and non believers. They didn’t believe in us…do you? 🫵🏽 #GODDID”

Khaled had teased the release of new music with a series of posts on social media joined by Drake, Future, Lil Baby and more in the studio.  The album will feature Lil Baby, 21 Savage, Lil Durk, Drake, Kanye West, Gunna, Roddy Ricch, Future and others.

Last year, Khaled unleashed his 12th full-length album, Khaled Khaled, which was his third No. 1 debut on the Billboard Top 200, sixth No. 1 on the Top Rap Albums Chart, and fourth No. 1 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Albums Chart. It also reached platinum status.

Kid Cudi drops new album ‘The Boy Who Flew To The Moon Vol. 1’

Kid Cudi has released his greatest hits compilation, ‘The Boy Who Flew to the Moon, Vol. 1.’ The 18-track compilation includes standouts from eight of his studio albums, starting with his debut album Man on the Moon: The End of Day, (‘Day ‘N’ Nite’ and ‘Pursuit of Happiness’) as well as two tracks off Man on the Moon II, (‘Ghost!’ and ‘Mr. Rager’.)

The Boy Who Flew to the Moon, Vol. 1 also features hits from his album WZRD, 2013’s Indicud, 2014’s Satellite Flight: The Journey to Mother Moon, 2015’s Speedin’ Bullet 2 Heaven, 2016’s Passion, Pain & Demon Slayin’, and the last studio LP Man on the Moon III: The Chosen.   Cudi also included a brand new bonus track titled ‘love’.

20th Century Studios is sharing a trailer for the mystery comedy film ‘Amsterdam,’ featuring Christian Bale, Margot Robbie and John David Washington and directed by David O. Russell. The film takes place in the 1930s and ‘follows three friends (Bale, Robbie, Washington) who become swept up in a murder and a larger secret plot.

Also starring in the film are Chris Rock, Anya Taylor-Joy, Zoe Saldaña, Mike Myers, Michael Shannon, Timothy Olyphant, Andrew Riseborough, Taylor Swift, Rami Malek and Robert De Niro. Amsterdam is Russell’s first since Joy, released in 2014. The director is also known for the films Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle.

Actor James Caan, known for his films “The Godfather”, “Elf”, dies at age 82

The family of actor James Caan announced Thursday on social media that the actor died Wednesday night. Caan was 82.

The family tweeted on Caan’s official Twitter account“It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of Jimmy on the evening of July 6. The family appreciates the outpouring of love and heartfelt condolences and asks that you continue to respect their privacy during this difficult time.”  A cause of death was not revealed.

Caan’s rise to fame began in 1969 when he appeared in Francis Ford Coppola‘s The Rain People. The following year, he starred alongside Billy Dee Williams in the TV adaptation of Brian’s Song, which garnered him his first Emmy nomination.

Caan was perhaps best known for his portrayal of Santino “Sonny” Corleone in the 1972 classic film The Godfather, which earned him a best supporting actor nomination at the Academy Awards as well as the Golden Globes. He reprised the role in 1974’s The Godfather Part II, making a cameo at end of the film.

Caan appeared in an impressive number of films including Dick TracyThe YardsMisery, The Outsider and Honeymoon in Vegas.  He gained a new generation fans with his appearance in the 2003 holiday comedy Elf, in which he played the biological father of Will Ferrell‘s character, Buddy the Elf.  Also in 2003, Caan joined the TV series Las Vegas, staying for four of the show’s five seasons.

Before his passing, Caan was set to star in Megalopolis, which would have been his fifth collaboration with director Francis Ford Coppola. Filming was scheduled for Fall 2022.

Caan was married four times; and is survived by daughter Tara, 57, and sons Scott, 45, Alexander, 31, James, 26, and Jacob, 23.

Future has shared the music video for “Holy Ghost,” one of the tracks from his blockbuster No. 1 album, I Never Liked You. Future became the fifth artist in history to simultaneously debut at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and Billboard 200 with “I Never Liked You” atop the 200, and “Wait for U” at No. 1 on the Hot 100. The album also broke the record for highest first-day streams for an album released in 2022 on Apple Music worldwide.  The rapper also just released a deluxe version of the album with five new tracks, including “Like Me” featuring 42 Dugg & Lil Baby and “Affiliated” featuring Lil Durk.

Beyoncé ties Michael Jackson & Paul McCartney’s Billboard Hot 100 record

Beyoncé has tied Michael Jackson and Paul McCartney’s Billboard record for 20 top 10 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 chart as a solo artist and 10 as a member of a group. The superstar achieved the honor with her latest single, “Break My Soul,” ranking at No. 7 on the chart ending June 30th. She has 10 hits with Destiny’s Child, the group the launched her career.

“Break My Soul” is Beyoncé’s first solo Top 10 since 2016’s “Formation.” It’s also marks her first top 10 on the chart in two years after the “Savage” remix with Magan Thee Stallion reached No. 1 in May 2020.

McCartney has 23 solo top 10 hits and 34 with The Beatles, while Jackson has 30 top 10 solo songs and 11 with The Jackson 5 and The Jacksons.

“Break My Soul” is the first single from Beyoncé’s forthcoming Act 1: Renaissance album, due July 29th. The 16 song LP is her first album since 2016’s Lemonade.
