Take a look at the trailer for “Lightyear” featuring the voice of Chris Evans
Disney/Pixar is sharing the official trailer for Lightyear, the origins story of Space Ranger Buzz Lightyear from the Toy Story film franchise.
Chris Evans takes over the titular voice role from Tim Allen, who voiced Buzz Lightyear in all four Toy Story features, shorts and spinoffs. Set to David Bowie’s “Starman,” the Lightyear trailer follows our hero as he takes a first test flight “after a full year of being marooned on this planet.” Young Buzz – joined by robot cat Sox (Peter Sohn) — encounters the expected turbulence on his intergalactic journey, which includes an encounter with “just a massive robot.”
The voice cast also includes Keke Palmer, Taika Waititi, Uzo Aduba, James Brolin, Dale Soules, Mary McDonald-Lewis, Efren Ramirez and Isiah Whitlock Jr. Lightyear is directed by Angus MacLane, who also directed the 2013 short Toy Story of Terror! Said MacLane: “Buzz’s world was always something I was excited about. In ‘Toy Story,’ there seemed to be this incredible backstory to him being a Space Ranger that’s only touched upon, and I always wanted to explore that world further. So my Lighytear pitch was, ‘What was the movie that Andy saw that made him want a Buzz Lightyear toy?’ I wanted to see that movie. And now I’m lucky enough to get to make it.”

Snoop Dogg acquires Death Row Records
Snoop Dogg, who rose to fame during the 90s on Death Row Records, has acquired the label’s brand from MNRK Music Group. The MNRK Music Group, which is controlled by private equity funds managed by the investment firm Blackstone, announced the news on Wednesday. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed, however, Snoop’s acquisition of the Death Row brand is said to be the first part of a transaction that is expected to see him also acquiring some of the label’s music rights — both his own, and unspecified other artists. Details of the acquisition are said to be expected in the coming weeks.
Death Row Records was originally founded in 1992 by Suge Knight and Dick Griffey and rappers Dr. Dre and the D.O.C. in the wake of Dre’s departure from N.W.A. Death Row went on to become one of the most successful, influential — and controversial — record labels in music history, with a roster including Dre, Snoop, Tupac Shakur, the D.O.C., Nate Dogg, Warren G, Michel’le and others. The label released such classic albums as Dre’s “The Chronic,” Snoop’s “Doggystyle” and Tupac’s “All Eyez on Me”.
In a statement, Snoop Dogg, said: “I am thrilled and appreciative of the opportunity to acquire the iconic and culturally significant Death Row Records brand, which has immense untapped future value. It feels good to have ownership of the label I was part of at the beginning of my career and as one of the founding members. This is an extremely meaningful moment for me. I would like to personally thank the teams at Blackstone, MNRK and especially David Kestnbaum, who worked collaboratively with me over several months to make this exciting homecoming a reality. I’m looking forward to building the next chapter of Death Row Records.”

Dr. Dre adds two deaf rappers to the Super Bowl Halftime Show
Dr. Dre will make history when he brings two deaf rappers on stage for this year’s Super Bowl Halftime Show. The rappers — Sean Forbes and Warren “WaWa” Snipe — will appear alongside Dre, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, and Kendrick Lamar on Sunday for the anticipated halftime show. It’s the first time sign language interpreters will be included in the halftime show’s more than 50-year history, although there have traditionally been interpreters during the pre-game. Actress Sandra Mae Frank will perform the National Anthem and “America the Beautiful” in American sign language on behalf of the National Association of the Deaf.
Said Forbes: “The doors to accessibility are busted wide open with something like this. So this is very much a full-circle moment, being from Detroit, being part of the Eminem camp — or even going back to being 12 and listening to N.W.A, Dre, and Snoop on my Walkman. My goal is to get out there, show what we can do, and have fun. And I want to open the door for other deaf performers.” Snipe was the interpreter during Jazmine Sullivan’s rendition of “The Star-Spangled Banner” and Eric Church’s performance of “America the Beautiful.”
Super Bowl LVI will be played at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, CA on Sunday, February 13, 2022. The game will air on NBC and Telemundo, and stream live on Peacock.
