The cancelation of Pearl comes after Netflix shares plunged in April after the streaming service announced a drop in subscribers. Sources reveal that Netflix said the cancelation is part of strategic decisions the company is making on animated content.

Markle and Prince Harry signed a multi-year deal with Netflix in September 2020 to develop documentaries, feature films, scripted televisions series and children’s shows. Netflix will continue to work with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex through their Archwell Productions company.

‘Spider-Verse’ film Madame Web starring Dakota Johnson to be released theatrically in 2023

Columbia Pictures announced that the ‘Spider-Verse’ film Madame Web will officially debut in July 2023. The film stars Dakota Johnson as the titular hero and will be an origin story for the first female lead in the Sony/Marvel universe. Madame Web is a supporting character to Peter Parker in the comic books, in which an elderly woman suffers from a debilitating illness that forces her to constantly be attached to machines resembling a spiderweb, hence her moniker. The blind woman can also sense what the future holds and uses her clairvoyant power to prevent Spider-Man from committing horrible mistakes.

Besides Johnson, the only other cast member confirmed for Madame Web is ‘Euphoria’ star Sydney Sweeney in an undisclosed role. The film will be directed by S.J. Clarkson (Jessica Jones, The Defenders) from a script by Morbius’ writers Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless.

Before Madame Web makes her cinematic debut, the next chapter in Sony’s universe of Marvel characters will be Kraven the Hunter, set to premiere on January 13, 2023 and starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson as the titular poacher.  Madame Web his theaters on July 7, 2023, two weeks after The Flash premieres and three weeks before Disney releases Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Pharrell’s ‘Something in the Water Festival’ to feature Lil Baby, Tyler, the Creator, Pusha T, and more

Pharrell Williams has announced the return of his summer music festival “Something in the Water,” which will take place in Washington, DC on Juneteenth weekend (June 17-19). Pharrell will be included on a lineup featuring Lil Baby, Chloe x Halle, Lil Uzi Vert, Tierra Whack, Run the Jewels, Pusha T, Dave Matthews Band, and more.

The festival previously took place in Williams’ hometown of Virginia Beach back in 2019, however, it has since been relocated to Washington, D.C. In a press statement released last October, Williams shared that the festival would not take place in Virginia due to “toxic energy” from local authorities.  That statement was a result of the March 2021 death of Donovon Lynch, Williams’ cousin, who was killed by a Virginia Beach police officer not wearing an active body camera amid other alleged affairs.

Said Pharrell in a statement: “DC has always been a deep inspiration to me as a person and a musician. It is the land where Go- Go Music was birthed which has provided so much for our people. Our sponsors continue to go the extra mile to show that Something In The Water is so much more than a festival. The goodwill we generate is a defining trait of who we are. We will always have the hottest artists, but to pair that energy with these brands showing up for the community is what makes this festival a vehicle for change.”

Three-day passes are on sale at somethinginthewater.com.
